2. Hosting and Server Log Files

This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. We have a data processing agreement with IONOS under Art. 28 GDPR.

When you visit this website, IONOS automatically processes data sent by your browser: IP address, date and time of access, page requested, volume of data transferred, referrer URL, browser type, and operating system. These data are technically necessary to deliver the website and ensure its security. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing a secure, functioning service). IP addresses are stored in anonymized form in the log files; the log files are deleted after no more than eight weeks.

IONOS uses these log data to create aggregate visitor statistics for us (IONOS WebAnalytics), such as the number of visits, pages viewed, referring pages, browsers, and operating systems. No cookies are set or additional scripts loaded on this website for this purpose. We only see aggregate figures and cannot attribute them to any individual. The purpose is to improve our service. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

3. Contact by Email

If you email us, we process the information you provide to answer your inquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). We delete the data as soon as they are no longer needed for this purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply.

4. Detective ID

The detective ID is created entirely in your browser. The name you enter is neither sent to us nor stored.

4a. Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we use your email address solely to inform you about new Hamburg Superdetectives books and activities. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Subscription is intended for people aged 16 and over.

We use a double opt-in process: after signing up, you receive an email with a confirmation link. To document your consent, we store the date and time of your sign-up and confirmation. We do not collect full IP addresses or cookies in this process. If a subscription is not confirmed, the address is automatically deleted after one month.

The newsletter is sent through CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Schafjückenweg 2, 26180 Rastede, Germany, with whom we have concluded a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Data are processed on servers in Germany. Opens and clicks are counted, if at all, only in anonymized form, without reference to individual recipients; we do not analyze personal data about reading behavior.

You may withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link at the end of each email or by writing to contact@thehamburgsuperdetectives.com. After you unsubscribe, we remove your address from the mailing list; to document past consent, we may retain it on a suppression list for up to three years (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

5. External Links

Our site links to the websites of Sternenbrücke and the Barakiel-Stiftung, our Instagram and TikTok profiles, and our book pages on Amazon. Data are only transferred to the respective provider when you click a link; that provider’s privacy policy then applies. The Amazon links are ordinary links without an affiliate program; we do not learn who clicks them.

5a. Our Instagram Profile

We operate the Instagram profile @the.hamburg.superdetectives. Instagram is provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland (“Meta”). When you visit our profile or interact with our posts, Meta processes your data under its own terms, including in the United States; Meta relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for this. Details are available in Instagram’s privacy policy: privacycenter.instagram.com/policy.

Meta provides us with aggregate statistics about the use of our profile (Insights), such as reach and interactions. We are joint controllers with Meta for these statistics (Art. 26 GDPR); details are governed by Meta’s Page Insights agreement. Meta takes primary responsibility, including for fulfilling your rights. We only see aggregate figures and cannot attribute them to any individual. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing up-to-date information about our books (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

If you send us a message or leave a comment on Instagram, we process this information to reply. You may exercise your rights (see Section 6) with Meta and with us.

5b. Our TikTok Profile

We operate the TikTok profile @the.hamburg.super. TikTok is provided to users in the European Economic Area by TikTok Technology Limited, 10 Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin, D02 T380, Ireland (“TikTok”). When you visit our profile or interact with our videos, TikTok processes your data under its own terms. Data may also be processed outside the EU: according to TikTok, this includes servers in the United States, Malaysia, and Singapore, and group companies in other countries. TikTok bases these transfers on European Commission adequacy decisions and standard contractual clauses. Details are available in TikTok’s privacy policy: tiktok.com/legal/page/eea/privacy-policy/de.

TikTok provides us with aggregate statistics about the use of our profile (TikTok Analytics), such as views and interactions. We are joint controllers with TikTok for these statistics (Art. 26 GDPR); details are governed by the “TikTok Analytics Joint Controller Addendum” provided by TikTok. We only see aggregate figures and cannot attribute them to any individual. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing up-to-date information about our books (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

If you send us a message or leave a comment on TikTok, we process this information to reply. You may exercise your rights (see Section 6) with TikTok and with us.
